Machine learning and statistical modelling is the core of Artificial Intelligence
A couple of decades ago many thought of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as intelligent robots making intelligent decisions. Later on AI has been interpreted as “Computers comparing a given situation with historical ones to make the best decision”. In daily use today AI in reality often refers to “Computers making decisions using machine learning and statistical modelling for prediction and classification”.
NR is an expert environment within machine learning and statistical modelling providing the core technology needed for the majority of new AI solutions. In addition to producing the optimal predictions and classification results, we are often able to calculate estimates of the uncertainty around these numbers. This uncertainty is essential when weighting consequences in such a way that the predictions and classifications can be used for making intelligent decisions.
