SPF warning in subject of email

The e-mail was received by nr.no with a breach of the original senders SPF, which means that the sender address may be forged.

  • SPF hard fail means that the sender's email address has absolutely limited who will be allowed to send e-mail directly from them. Or the sender domain does not exist.

  • SPF soft fail means that the sender's email address has advisory limited who is allowed to send email directly from them.

  • SPF PermError means that there is an error in the implementation of SPF on the sender's side so that the SPF query is aborted.

 

The error lies either at the original sender or at someone who forwarded the email. Please contact them to fix this.

  • A possible error at the original sender is that they have added a new mail server and did not update their SPF settings.

  • Possible error by forwarder is that the email sender is set to the original domain and not on behalf of.
