Early November, a new research scientist in Statistics joined Norsk Regnesentral, Sean Meling Murray.

Sean Meling Murray recently finished a master’s degree in Statistics at the University of Bergen. His thesis was an exploratory analysis of uncertainty approximation in Bayesian convolutional neural networks.

Before switching to Statistics, he worked as a photographer and later as a copy editor in the Norwegian daily Bergens Tidende. Sean earned a B.A. in media studies in 2008 and a B.A. in photojournalism in 2011.

At NR, Sean will be working on deep learning applications in natural and medical image analysis.
