Two new research scientists have joined SAMBA
In the early fall, two new research scientists joined our research department SAMBA; Anders Ueland Waldeland and Fredrik Lohne Aanes.
Anders U. Waldeland has a MSc degree in Informatics from the University of Oslo, with specialization within signal processing and image analysis. After his studies, he started in a PhD research position at the same institution. The topic for this work is machine learning and image analysis applied to seismic data for improved image quality.
Anders will at NR work with image analysis and machine learning for applications related to earth observation, seismic exploration, and the marine sector.
Fredrik Lohne Aanes holds a Master of Science in Applied Physics and Mathematics from NTNU, with specialization in statistics. He did a power study in the master’s thesis. Properties of each and differences between several tests testing the equality of two independent binomial distributions were considered. Different sample sizes and significance levels were used.
After graduation Fredrik worked as a statistician at the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. Here he worked with statistical analysis.
At NR Fredrik will work with statistical analysis and machine learning, within new and traditional customer segments.
