Two new research scientists have joined SAMBA
In the beginning of August, two new research scientists joined our research department SAMBA (Department of Statistical Analysis, Machine Learning and Image Analysis).
Olav Brautaset holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specialized in algebraic topology. He has further been working with risk and reliability analyses within the petroleum industry in the consulting firm Safetec Nordic. He has additional subjects in statistics, machine learning and image analysis at the University of Oslo (UiO).
At NR, Olav will be working with image analysis and machine learning applied on acoustic signals and natural images.
Jens Christian Wahl recently graduated from the University of Bergen with a master’s degree in Statistics. His thesis dealt with parameter estimation of multivariate stochastic volatility models. The last three years he also worked part-time in the insurance company Tryg.
At NR, Jens will develop methodology for risk management in bank, finance and insurance.
