- Artificial Intelligence in Practice

- With the growing focus on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, NR's core competences are in greater demand than ever, says André Teigland, the research director at SAMBA.

- We notice that our partners and the market in general requiere the solid methodological expertise NR offers. The volume of projects is increasing, and we need more people to join for this exciting development.

Teigland notes that today, with over 25 years of experience applying and developing these methodologies, the institute is in greater demand than ever.

NR is currently looking to hire experts in Machine Learning, traditional Statistical Modelling, Image Analysis, Earth Observation and Language Technology.

True Intelligence

- We need people who can simultanously further develop these methods, and are passionate about implementing them into practical use with our customers and partners. Call it Artificial Intelligence in practice, Teigland says.

- We often say that in order to succeed in Artificial Intelligence, real intelligence is required, he adds. That is why our solid methodological expertise is in such demand.

Two new positions in Machine Learning and Statistical Method

You will not only use these methods in exciting applications, you will also have the opportunity to further develop and understand them. You will become an expert in assessing when traditional statistical modelling is preferred, and when methods such as Deep Learning are the best choice.

Two new positions in Image Analysis and Earth Observation

In Image Analysis, we work in medicine and health, marine, industry and energy. We develop methods to solve problems such as detecting cancer from medical radiographs or to calculate fish quantities from marine acoustics data.

In Earth Observation, we work with algorithms on remote measurement data, which we use in applications related to road systems, vehicles, cultural heritage, seal abundance, floods, oil spills, and damage to infrastructure, classification and mapping of forests and vegetation, as well as measurement of physical variables related to snow and ice.

A new position in Natural Language Processing:

Natural Language Processing, or NLP, is becoming increasingly important to our department. We perform research on speech based dialogue systems, human-robot interaction, development of multilingual language resources and information retrieval in large amounts of texts. We have also recently started a large multidisciplinary research project on anonymization of text data in collaboration with lawyers, data security experts and health informants.

SAMBA

One of Europe's largest and most competent groups in Applied Statistics and Statistical-Mathematical Modelling.

Consists of 45 researchers with extensive theoretical and practical expertise in the fields of Statistical Analysis, Machine Learning and Image Analysis, and covering a wide range of methods.

Selecting the appropriate approach for each problem problems is one of the department's strengths; many analyses involve various uncertainties and an accurate estimation of these is one of our core specialties.
