A news story published by the Research Council of Norway has received considerably international attention. The results from the project were given in a report to the Research Council of Norway.  The methodology was published in Environmetrics in 2012, but the final estimates are still under peer review in a scientific journal. NR and CICERO will wait with dissemination of these results until they are accepted by a journal.

A previously unknown grave field containing 16 grave mounds has recently been discovered by automatic pattern recognition software developed by the Norwegian Computing Center. Covered by spruce forest, the grave field is impossible to discover from aerial photography.

Norsk Regnesentral instituted in 2009 an award for the best thesis in mathematics and computer science at NTNU. This year the prize went to Anne-Cecilie Haugstvedt.
